OCEANSIDE
The Ocean Side Union School House was well filled with the relatives and friends of the graduates of the school on Friday evening, when the Com-.mencement exercises of the school were held. The large assembly room was prettily decorated and presented an attractive appearance, blue and gold, the class colors, predominating I in the decorations, while the class flower, "The Rose" was very much in evidence in the floral decorations. The class motto, "Gradatim" was emblazioned upon a banner hanging over the stage, all tending to make a pleasing appearance. The program of the evening was as follows: Music, selected, Camillia Groepler ; prayer, Rev. A. H. Rennie, pastor of the First Presby-terian Church ; "Barbara Frietchie," Bertha Rhodes; recitation, "To-mor-I row," Hazel McIntosh; recitation, "School," Florence McIntosh; decla- 1 mation "The Black Horse and His Rider, M. Lawson; recitation, "The Mice at Play," Ada Bassett; recita-tion, "The Star Spangled Banner," Misses Finlayson and Thompson ; music, selected, Mr. and Mi. Groep-ler ; salutatory, Lillian M. Pettit ; oration, "Panama the Golden," Edith Frances McIntosh; ora,Ljon, "The. Growth of Our Navy," Percy Garner Southard ; station, "The Spirit of Lib-erty," Lillian May Pettit ; valedictory, Edith F. McIntosh; awarding of prizes by Principal J. Anthony Bassett ; presentation of diplomas, by Charles I H. Taylor, President of the Board of I Education. Benediction, Rev. A. H. Rennie. The graduates were Percy I G. Southard, Lillian M. Pettit and Edith F. McIntosh, with Gladys E. Kessler and Mabel Peace as post-grad- uates.
