OPENS MUSIC STUDIO
Miss Edith F. McIntosh Will Teach Music In Rockville Centre
Southsiders will be interested to know that Miss Edith F. McIntosh, a life-long resident of Rockville Centre, has taken the commodious new apart-ments over the post office, in the Observer-Post Building, and will open there a studio of music at once. For a number of years Miss McIntosh has been preparing for this venture by study in the best schools of the state and by taking instructions from some of the foremost teacher pianists in America. At the Oneonta Normal School, Miss McIntosh received a solid training in pedagogy, without which a teacher of music is only partially equipped. A wide opportunity to practice these the-ories has been offered her by the very successful work which she has done in the public schools of Long Island dur-ing the past few years. By virtue of this preparation, Miss McIntosh is par-ticularly adapted to the instruction of beginning pupils. Among the teachers with whom Miss McIntosh has 'studied of late are Frank LaForge and Ernesto Berumen, The former is the eminent composer, teacher and accompanist, whose ser-vices have always been in demand with such musical artists as Frances Alda, Marguerite Matzenauer and Ernestine Shumann-Heinck. Mr. Berumen is the accomplished Mexican concert pianist, whose Aeolian Hall appearances and concert tour with Mme. Schumann-Heinck were lauded by the critics as a triumph for the brilliant young musi-
cian. With these teachers, Miss McIntosh has received a sound training in musicianship, in the art of accom-panying, and in concert repertory, and she is prepared to give instruction in these advanced branches of piano-forte playing. Both Mr. LaForge and Mr. Berumen are heartily supporting Miss McIntosh, and it is with their distinct approval and approbation that she comes be-fore the public as a teacher of the piano.
